Editorial Standards

This page sets out the rules our content has to follow before it is published, and the rules that keep our reviews independent from the commissions we earn.

No fabricated numbers

Every number about an exchange — fees, supported countries, coin counts, bonus terms — must trace back to a source with a URL and a checked date, stored in our Knowledge Graph. If we do not have a verifiable source for a figure, we either omit it or mark it as "unverified" rather than publish a guess. See Sources for how this works in practice.

No fake authors, no fake experts

We do not create fictional author personas or claim expert credentials that do not exist. CompareCEX is published by an anonymous team; see About for why.

Scores are independent of commission

Our editorial score is calculated with a public formula (see Methodology). Commission is never an input to that formula. It can only affect the order in which exchanges that already scored similarly are displayed — for example within a "top 5" list — never whether an exchange qualifies for that list in the first place.

YMYL content requirements

Because crypto is a "your money or your life" topic, every page that could influence a financial decision must include: a clear, direct answer near the top, a visible risk warning, a note that nothing on the site is financial advice, an affiliate disclosure where relevant, and a visible last-updated date.

Compliance by country

We do not show sign-up calls-to-action for an exchange in a country where that exchange is restricted. Instead we keep the review available, mark it as not available in that country, and suggest an alternative that is actually usable there. Restriction status is tracked with a source and a check date, not assumed.
